Busy Weekend

Friday we went out to Silver Reef to get out of the house and take some pictures.

Saturday we drove to Hoover Dam and took the tour of the power plant.
This picture totally has some solar flare, but I couldn't do much better because at the time I was taking this picture the sun was getting so low! There weren't very many good angles to get the entire bridge either (without walking to the middle of the dam).
They are building a new road/bridge and you will no longer drive across the dam. It's crazy looking! That would be so scary to build! It will be cool to see after it's done because from up there you will really get a good view of the dam and Lake Mead.
This is the power plant. It was neat to see, but pretty much the same as the Glenn Canyon Dam, if you've been to that one, just a bit smaller.
We had to carry the kids around in backpacks, and they were really good! Aaralyn was a good girl to walk around with us and didn't get tired! Thanks Jocely and Taylor for letting us borrow the backpack!
Hmm... now where can we go next? Anyone have any good ideas of fun weekend outtings that we can tote around all our kids, and not take all day to get there? This was about as far as I think we'd want to travel, until they get a little older, because Jack isn't the easiest to travel with, especially because he won't take a bottle! It sure will be nice when they get to be Aaralyn's age, then we can do more things together!

Looking at the pictures of the new bridge construction reminds me of a book by Zane Grey called "Boulder Dam." It's a story of when they built the dam, and it's really awesome what they had to do.
